Joe Story

Dr. Joe L. Story is President, Research and Education and Chairman of the Andrews Institute Surgery Center.  He was involved in developing and building the Dr. James Andrews Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute.  Dr. Story was also involved in the creation and development of the Human Performance Center of Excellence for Northwest Florida which includes the Institute, the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, the University of West Florida, The University of Central Florida, the University of Florida and Florida State University.  He currently has developed two incubator companies associated with the Andrews Research and Education Institute – Actigraph and MiMedx as well as the Executive Physical Program for Baptist Health Care.

Upon his graduation from medical school, Dr. Story completed his residency at the University of Alabama (UAB) program.  He’s been in medical practice for more than 20 years and is licensed to practice in Florida and Alabama.  He is board certified in family medicine, a member of the American Medical Association, fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice Physicians.  He was a partner in the Columbiana Clinic family medicine practice in Birmingham, Alabama for 16 years.  In addition, he served as a partner in the Columbiana Clinic Research Associates which was involved in over 35 clinical drug trial publications.  He also mentored young health care professionals by sponsoring rotations at his clinic for medical student as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Dr. Story has extensive business experience including being one of the founders of Tri-Care Rehabilitation services, which developed outpatient rehabilitation and diagnostic centers in several states.  Dr. Story serves on the boards of the Northwest Florida Life Sciences Counsel, the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce and MiMedX.  He and his wife, Susan, currently reside in Gulf Breeze, Florida and are members of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
